Well, the weather has been a little fickle lately. For about 2 weeks the days were beautiful, warm and sunny, temps in the 70's with a couple of days in the low 80's. Then Mother Nature said, OMG, it's November in Nevada too. So, she threw some colder, windier weather at us. Last weekend, for example. LeRoy and I took a short trip to Laughlin for 2 nights and left the dogs here at home with plenty of food and water, access to the outdoors throught the doggie door and plenty of warmth. No problem, right? NOT! We got a call Saturday night just after dinner and I didn't recognize the number on caller ID. Almost didn't answer, but something told me I better. Of course, it was someone in our neighborhood letting me know they had found a dog with this phone number on her collar. KIKI! The little booger had somehow gotten out of the electrified yard and the only reason was Mother Nature's fault. Change in the weather here is usually accompanied with strong winds, and sometimes rain. This time it was both and Kiki panicked, jumped across the charged fence and dug out. She's so panicked when she does this that she can't figure out where she is, or how to get home. Thankfully, people here are very pet oriented, they took her in, gave her a bath, made the call and helped and old lady dog. I called Dale (my aunt) and she went and picked her up and took her home for a sleep over. All turned out well, and the fence got adjusted, again, to keep the escapee in. Only happens when the weather turns.
We decided that the next time we go for an overnight trip, Kiki will be staying in the garage. I dare her to dig out of there!
Other than that adventure, there has not been too much excitement for us. Going to work, bowling on Tuesday's and a movie occasionally. Just saw UNSTOPPABLE yesterday. Good flick. We had dinner with Dale at the Suncoast Cafe and a movie then home. Leroy has to Work today, but I'm off for the entire weekend. No Black Friday shopping for me. Just trying to stay warm. Temps have been in the 50's for highs and in the upper 30's for lows. Thank-you Mother Nature!
Take care All. We will be in Ohio for the holidays.

Scared little girl
I know it's been a little while since I posted anything, but believe it or not, I've been a little busy. Here is a little story and I won't give away the ending until the end.
A week ago this last Wednesday was my late day at work, and that is the day Dr. Batlan comes and does his pain clinic. Usually about 12- 15 patients starting at 2 in the afternoon for injections that require sedation (he oversedates them, but that's another thing). I was the sedation nurse and of course I had to be at work at 6 that morning and I knew I wouldn't be getting done until sometime after 6 that day cause Batlan always seems to be late.
Well low and behold, he came at 2:15 which is very early for him so we got things going rather early, but still didn't get done till 5:45. By that time it was getting dark and it had stormed and the wind was blowing. By the time I finished with all the paper work etc. I didn't get home till around 6:30. I was exhausted and I knew the dogs would be hungry and so was I so I stopped and got some Long John Silver. Well, the line took forever and now it's 7 and I'm finally pulling into the drive. I hear Marty barking, like usual and walk into the dark house to find only him.
No Kiki. I searched every room in the house and got a flashlight and went to check the back fence and found a very small place that she had escaped from during the storm. Well, now forget the fish dinner, I had to go looking for her. It wasn't raining anymore but the temp was beginning to drop, like into low 60's high 50's and I didn't want her out in the rain and coolness shivering and scared, after all she is 14 and a very old lady even if she misbehaves and panics during storms.
I got geared up and began searching the neighborhood to no avail. I knew we were in trouble this time. It has been a long time since she attempted any break outs, but this was a bad storm with flooding and such around the city. We are in an area near the foot of the mountains and flash floods do occur. No luck. Couldn't find her.
LeRoy got home around 8:45 and he started searching and I had made some fliers to post on the mail boxes. Still no luck.
He got up Thursday and searched, found out the construction guys at the end of the block had seen her. They said she hung out with them for a couple of hours and when they were getting ready to leave they tried to catch her to find out where she belonged. Just as they got close, and I know this is true, she bolted. But the idiot bolted out the gate onto the main road and that's the last they saw her.
Well Thursday, the mail man took all the fliers off the stands and we had no way to find her. The only thing on her collar was her rabies info. The weather cleared and I got home from work and started searching again. We were both coming to the conclusion that this time she was gone forever. The main road is very busy with nothing but desert beyond, the housing complexes are up the street a way and a dangerous trek for a panicked old lady.
Still no luck, so I came back to the house and got on the puter and put some info into the shelters and called the vet and gave them info. Called Dale and told her, and the whole time I told myself not to cry, she's only a dog! I couldn't help it, she was cold and wet and hungry and I just wanted her to not suffer.
Friday came and I was holding back tears all day, 2 nites outside, no food, no water, bobcats and coyotes, not to mention the traffic. I went to work knowing that LeRoy was going to post more fliers outside our complex, since that was where she had last been seen, going out the gate.
I don't know why, but for some reason I checked my phone for messages, I guess thinking maybe someone had turned her in at the vet or had some information. LeRoy had been near tears and he doesn't get too emotional about much, but he was upset with himself for not putting her "fence" collar on before he left for work.
Anyway, back to checking my phone, there was a message from Leroy and I was sure it wasn't going to be good. It was my lunch time so I listened in the lounge, mistake! He was all choked up and I could hardly understand him, except for : I FOUND KIKI AND SHE'S FINE, NO WORSE FOR WEAR! Well I started crying right there in the lounge and people thought it was bad news. I had to give a quick explanation that it was good news.
So here is what happened. When I called Dale about Kiki's missingness, she went to work on Friday and told a friend who said "we are getting on Craig's list right now" Dale called Leroy to get phone and address info at about 9am. By 11 am there was a hit on the description and the location was right, so Dale called LeRoy and gave him the number to call. He did. He was just ready to leave for work, but went anyway to the next gated community about 1/4 mile up the road and across the busy street, got the gate code from the woman on the phone and she met him just around the corner in the community. She was the HOA manager and knew where he was headed so she went with him. He knocked on the door and the woman who answered was holding this black and white shi-tzu with a goofy eye and 3 teeth that stick out the front of her mouth. The woman said they had found her on Wednesday night sitting in the rain in the middle of the road in their complex, so they took her in knowing someone would be looking for her. LeRoy loaded her into the car with many thanks and near tears and headed home. Kiki wouldn't leave his lap and whined all the way home.
Needless to say, he put her "fence" collar on her and left for work.
I cannot believe the generosity of the people out here. Just when you think people are distant and uncaring something like this happens and prooves you all wrong. We have been unbelievably fortunate when it comes to this dog. She sgone missing 4-5 time since we moved into this house a year and a half ago. Not in the last few months, it's been about six months since it happened the last time and we were sure that this time was the last time, because of 2 days gone.
Then on Saturday we left for an overnight trip to Laughlin with some friends. Kiki had the collar and Marty had his food/water and friend back. He had been a little nutso for the 2 days she was gone. When we got home Sunday, all was well. Safe and sound. We took a drive to the PetSmart and bought 2 leather collars, 2 tags (the riveted kind) labeled with names and numbers and now the pooches have some form of ID, should this happen again.
We have not left home without putting her collar on, and of course the digout place at the base of the fence has been adjusted again so maybe the old lady will not be able to get close enough, the fence charger is set on "fry", should it happen to storm anytime in thenear future. She has been very content and for a couple of days we could not get out of her sight (what little she has) and her aloofness turned into "pet me please"
Now she is back to normal and all is well with our little world.
In other news, well, there isn't much. I actually got most of my scheduled work hours in this pay period. Only lacks 1.5 hours instead of what has been 15-25 hours. That will help a lot. Oh, and by the way Laughling was fun, didn't win much, but had a great time. Thank-you Shiela and Aaron for inviting us.
That's about it for now, Sorry there are no pictures. Love you all.

Fall is in the air.

Well Fall weather is coming to the valley finally. A cool down predicted for next week will take the temps into the 70's for high and 50's for lows.. Guess a light jacket will be required and the AC will get turned off for a bit. A few weeks ago we went to Mt. Charleston and took the dogs with us for a hike. When we left home the temp was 95 and at the top it was 75. Nice change! The image above is one of the views we saw up there. We wanted to hike to a water fall but Kiki didn't take the hike too well. She fell about half way there 2 times and I said that was far enough. We turned around and came back down. I think Mary was disappointed, he seemed full of energy till on the way home. He slept all the way and most of the day after. He's pretty fat and more out of shape than he thinks.
On the way back down, we came around the backside of the mountain, we stopped at a viewing area and took a pic of a dry lake bed off in the distance, beautiful view and the pic doesn't do it justice. It's the one on the left at the top.
Since then life has been pretty much routine and LeRoy's lip has healed just fine. Not even a scar. Work has been slow and I have had at least one day a week off. We only do scheduled surgeries, nothing emergency, and with the economy the way it is elective surgeries have been put on the back burner for most people. It really hurts the pocket book.
I have been knitting, of course. Have knitted 7 shoulderettes and am working on #8. Most of them will be trying to find space in my suitcase for a trip to Ohio over the holidays. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone.
Two of those are mine. I wear them all the time. Nice for movies and casinos where it gets kinda cool.

I have plans to make a different kind of shawl for my boss for Christmas. I really like her and need to get started on that since it's something I have never tried before and mistakes will be forthcoming, I'm sure.
Dale (my aunt) and I spend every Saturday together. Knit club, then lunch with Mamie and then usually off to bingo somewhere in the valley. Sometimes we're lucky, sometimes we're not. Lots more fun when we are.
The other night LeRoy worked late and didn't get home till around 9. We were both so tired we went to bed around 10 and just as I was getting into that half sleep mode he jumped out of bed like his feet were on fire. Well, I thought someone was breaking into the house but he said "I left the water on at work filling the pool. I gotta go". Like a chicken with it's head cut off he was dressed and out the door. Two secondes later he was back (forgot his glasses) and out the door again. I heard the garage door come up, his car backed out and he was gone. Thirty minutes he was back and said the pool was definitely full, but not quite overflowing. He doesn't think his boss needs to know how long the water was on or what time it got turned off. Just that he was busy. Too funny, but I about peed when he jumped out of bed so fast.
Well, that's about it for this week. We found a really good steak house Saturday evening and will go there again, I'm sure. Montana Steakhouse. If you come to Vegas, be sure to give it a try. Talk to all soon. Thanks for following us. Love you. Kaye

Better late than never
Sorry it's been so long since I last updated everyone. Guess I'm just lazy.
Leroy's lip is just fine. He healed like a four year old. Everything took less than a week to disappear, including the road rash. Lucky him. Stitches came out (we took them out) and now there is the hoop jumping for Workers Comp to pay the bills. Ambulance ride was over $1000.
For me everything is just fine. I got a new bowling ball and am struggling getting used to it, but it is getting better. Work has been up and down. For example last Tuesday we had 44 surgeries scheduled and as the week progressed by Thursday we had 4. At least I got to work that day, and Friday they gave me the day off since there were only 12 cases. I surely hope things start getting better, feast famine health care is scary.
Yesterday Leroy had to work and as usual Dale and I spent the day together. We went to Boulder City to the Art in the Park fair. Lots and lots of local artists/craftsmen bring their works in. Some of it is very pricey, but the crafters stuff is reasonable priced and I bought a friend a tissue box cover with Baltimore Ravens emblams. She bleeds Raven purple. It got to look like rain as we were eating a pulled pork sandwich and the weather was very hot and oh so humid. Dale was wilting badly so we decided to leave and headed for the Gold Coast Casino to play bingo. She won, I didn't. After bingo she won $100 in the slots downstairs, I didn't. Anyway, we left there and decided to eat again, (it was after 5 by now) and went to the Sun Coast Casino for Chinese food and the 7pm bingo session. (I'm not obsessed with bingo, it just sounds that way). The line was too long so we went to the Oyster bar and I had a stuffed shrimp appetizer then upstairs for more bingo. Dale won again, but she had to share it so she only got 50. So being a good sport I decided it was my turn and the room was crowded, but I was willing to share if needed. I did win, but nobody bothered to bingo with me so I won $150. It was a good day. Ate out 3 times including a Starbucks coffee, spent the day at a craft show, went to bingo twice and only spent $16. What a good day.
Now I guess it will be back to life as usual. Work Monday at 6, but better get a few groceries so I'll have something to put in my lunch.
Haven't taken any pictures recently, but the sunrises and sunsets have been spectacular! We did get a sprinkle of ran yesterday, now at 7:51am on Sunday Oct.3 it is clear, and about 70. Perfect!
Thanks for taking time to share our lives. I'll try to do a better job of keeping everyone updated. Sorry Bethy. Love you.

It's a Dog day
What a great Sunday. Warm, but probably the last of the 100 degree days. Not sure if I told you that last week Kiki went to get a hair cut, well not just one, all of them :). Anyway, Marty got hurt feelings cause he couldn't go for a ride in the car and we made it up to him Sunday.

After we went for breakfast to the Draft House, great food with a Midwest menu, we came home and packed some water and the dogs and headed for Mt. Charleston. The temp was already close to 100 when we left. Not unpleasant, breezy and that helped. Anyway as we climbed from around 3000 ft. from our elevation to the nearly 8000 ft. of the Mountain, it's a 20 mile drive, the temp dropped to 75.
This is part of the view from up there, trees and streams and the snow usually stays into late April and early May. We decided to hike to the falls, which is about a mile and a half, but only made it about half way there. Leroy and I were fine, but the dogs are out of shape. They were huffing and puffing, so we let them go at their own pace, stopped and rested a couple of times, but the second time Kiki fell we decided she had had enough and turned around. Of course coming back down she was all energetic, it was downhill! When we got back to the car they got a big drink of water and a little exploration time. Marty was all nose, sniffing everything and Kiki peed and pooped at least a dozen times, I swear
. Needless to say they rested comfortably on the trip home. We took the long way back and went through Lee Canyon. What a spectacular view and change of topography. We pulled off and took some pictures of the changes from a vantage point that showed the valley below with dry lake beds and desert landscape.
We then drove down into the desert an back home.

I guess there is evidence of people walking to the log, but we certainly didn't try it. Must have been people much younger than our dogs.
There is just so much to see out here and the expanse of the landscape is overpowering. It makes one feel insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Thanks for sharing our day with us. Later

healed and sassy
Okay, it's been about 10 days since LeRoy lost the round with the grinder. His lip has healed, the stitches are out, we took them out(mostly he did since I couldn't see them) and I think he must be about 10 years old. He healed quickly for an old guy and the scar is not even noticeable. He thought he should stop by the hospital and thank the PA that sewed him up. No need for a plastic surgeon, It looks great.
Not much of action type stuff going on, other than a melt down (actually 2) at work Thursday. I got the shaft again because someone didn't get a certification renewed that is required by our facility and now they won't let her work. Well Thursday was her late day and I was the second late person. There was a late case and usually only the first late person has to stay to do that, well with her lapse of certification, which by the way she knew was expiring weeks ago, I became the first late person. It also happened with another last Friday and I ended up working 11 1/2 hours. That about killed me. Anyway, that was another person and it always seems the Sheila and I are the ones picking up the slack for a couple of other people and frankly, I'm tired of it. My charge person knows that too and she is trying to take care of the problem.
The second melt down came when PACU nurse, (I'll call her Toni) accused me of stealing a pen. I have had the pen for months and it was given to me by another nurse. Well, the crap meter already being full, I threw the pen across the floor and told them to keep it I had another. The girl that gave it to me then brought it to the OR to give it back, which of course, me being me, refused. Told her to keep it which she wouldn't do, so I threw it away. I know seem stupid, but again the crap meter was full.
Yesterday was a day for Dale and I and I think my ESP was working quite well. We went to knit club, then the Olive Garden for soup and salad followed by bingo across the street at Red Rock Casino. We had no idea where we were going to eat until about 10:30 when something in my brain told me to have soup and salad and bingo at Red Rock. I told Dale it was an Epiphany and she agreed.
Much to our surprise, since neither of us ever won a game of bingo there, we both won. Dale won $100 first. I said it's my turn and sure enough it was. I won a game paying $150. It was still early in the session and I said I don't think we're done winning yet and low and behold I won the coverall for $250 and only needed one more number for the second chance coverall of another $250. But I graciously settled for the $400 and was happy for a change.
Leroy and I went to Joe's crab shack and casino hopping after. I was not winning the he was crabby, which means he wasn't winning anything either. Went to Fiesta and I was down significantly. I was ready to leave, found him playing a machine, sat down beside him, put $10 in the machine, (which he said he had just played and it wasn't paying) and was down to $6 and I wanted to leave. I hid the machine for $112.15. He was PO'd. I cashed out $115 and we came home. I ended up only down $7 for the whole evening.
He was a little pouty so I'm taking him out for breakfast this morning, then taking the dogs up to Mt. Charleston for a little hiking and exercise.
The weather is warm and sunny, but then we only get sunny weather 361 days a year, what would you expect.
I'll take some pics at the mountain and get those posted so keep looking. Later all. Kaye

Later all. Kaye

LeRoy vs. grinder
Well I cannot say our week has been uneventful. I have worked hard all week and that includes some ovetime, finally and there is still more to come.
Yesterday I worked from 10 til 6:30 and when I got home Leroy's car was in the garage. He was supposed to be at work so of course my first thought was that he had a heart attack and I would find him in the house. I walked in and loudly said "YOU ALRIGHT?" He answered right away and came walking out of the office.

This is what I found. Yep, that's Leroy. He was at work and a grinder bit into a corner of a square post and kicked out. Hit him on the chin and right arm. He got a ride to the hospital in an ambulance, cause his boss said he had to and fifteen stitches (10 on the outside and 5 on the inside) later they let him out. His boss is making him take a couple of days off and there is a drug test in the works of course, and in a couple of days they want him to see a plastic surgeon to assess the damage to the lip.
I sort of freaked out when I saw this mess and all the swelling, but he insisted he was alright. Well about an hour after I got home he was unsteady on his feet and sweating like crazy. Denied any pain, but I thought about callin the squad and taking him to the hospital but he would have none of that. Said he was just hungry so I fed him. He might have been right but I stayed hom from work today just to make sure he's alright. The weeping chin made it necessary for a towel over his pillow but it's 7:20 and he's still sleeping.
Dang, guess that means I have to go back to work tomorrow! I'm just greatful that he's ok, maybe looking at a little lip repair soon. The lesson learned here is that a grinder will win almost everytime.
Thanks all. Kaye

Well, I haven't posted anything for a while so let me catch you up with our lives. Work has been on and off for me. Most weeks i don't get a full 40 hours in, but that's ok in this economy. I usually get 36 every week. Our plastic surgery case load is way down, just no money for the extra beauty work I guess. Still doing lots of urology and foot woork, but orthopedics is slow.
I have been busy knitting when I get home from work. Leroy doesn't get home till around 9 so that leaves me lots of time to watch tv and knit. I told myself i would't do more than one project at a time. Yeah, right! I now have 3 projects on needle. One almost done, one half done and one just starting. Can you say obsessed?
The weather has been somewhat muggy lately. Humidity around 40% and tem 100 or better. Saturday was much better. Temp 103 and humidity 12% Very nice. I went to knit club with Dale and found out one of our very good friends is in the process, actively, of becoming a grandparent again. She could hardly think, it was 36 hours into labor, mom in New York, and Mamie was almost beside herself. She emailed me a pic and news around 5pm saying all was well and the baby weighed 6#3oz. Mom is an executive producer for shows on the discovery channel and it's her first baby.
Dale and I went to lunch at TGI Friday's, love that place, then to bingo at Suncoast Casino and I actually won $30 before going, paid for bingo and then won $100. A good day. Leroy and I went to Letitia's Cocino for Mexican food, very good, then went to Santa Fe Station and I lost the money gambling, but hey, I had a good time. Home by 10:30 and fell asleep in the chair knitting, of course.
Don't know what is on tap for today, but steaks are ready for the grill and I haven't talked to the boys in about 3 weeks, so I'll make that call sometime today.
Monday it's back to work and I'm doing sedation for one of my favorite Dr. He's taken a position in Illinois, so will be leaving sometime in September or October. I know he's going to miss me. He loves me, and why not. I give him a hard time and he's actually fun to work with, now that he knows me. He can be a real a-hole too, but that's part of his charm I guess.
Leroy got groceries for me yesterday and did all the laundry, what a guy! All that so I could go and play with the girls on Saturday.
We found out this week that a new administrator has been hired, our last one was Atilla and enough of us complained to corporate that they finally fired her 3 months ago, the good news of that is that she left town, had been fired from every major health care facility in town, and moved to Portland. They can have her, I'm not moving there. Our turn over of help during her tenure was more than 50%, most of which she fired. I would have looked for other work, but was afraid she would get canned and show up at my new place of employment, so I stuck it out. Good thing too. Just goes to show that enough squeaks will get greased. So here's to Leann. Good luck, good bye and don't let the door slam you in the *&&.
Well, that's about all I have for this week. I would take pics of my knitting projects, but they are gifts for the girls. We are planning a trip home for the Holidays so Ihave to get them all knitted and I'm working on socks for myself. I should do some for my brother and his wife living in Alaska. It's their first winter there and I'm sure they could use something warm.
Talk to you all later. Kaye and Leroy.

Is that lightening?
Well, here it is another weekend and the work week is finished. It's been feast or famine at work. One day 54 cases, the next 13. Makes for a mandatory day off, but this week I actually got 40 hours in, thanks to having a scheduled late day Friday. I had to work 10 hours but is made up for time that I had left early during the week.
Saturday was knit club and Dale and I went to play bingo after lunch, didn't win, but that's not unusual. Leroy and I went to Famous Dave's for dinner, thanks Roger for turning us onto that with you construction contracts. Then we went to the casino, and again I didn't win, but Leroy got his money back. I may have to borrow from him this week, HEHE.
Sunday we'll just stay home and eat left over Famous Dave's and I'll knit. Knitting things for the girls at home. They are turning out very beautiful, guess practice pays off.
On the way home last night there was lightening all over the valley. We even heard some thunder and that's the first time in almost 2 years out here that has happened. Very pretty at night to see the mountains back lit with lightening. It may be for only short bursts, but knowing where to look makes the difference. Kiki is paranoid with storms, so we wanted to get home to make sure she was ok, and of course, there she was on the patio, looking toward the mountains waiting for the next flash. I don't think it rained, if it did it wasn't much cause everything was dry this morning but it smells like a rain storm washed through. Have to be very careful when it rains in the mountains, no place for the water to go but downhill, and guess where we live. Yep, downhill. Flash floods can be a killer. Fortunately, we are not in a "usual" flash flood area and it would have to rain a ton to affect us. The property is landscaped and designed to drain away from the house so there should not be any problems.
Thanks, Mandy for becoming a follower. Love you.
I promise to get some pictures posted, I'm just not sure what you would be interested in seeing. I'll figure it out soon.

Well, here it is Monday and I haven't written anything in days. I'm really bad about taking pictures, so you might have to wait a bit for those. Worked really hard for 4 days last week. On Tuesday worked 13 hours, almost like being on call at the hospital, but then on Thursday, because I had 4 hours overtime and there weren't many cases, I had to take the day off so my check will bee 4 hours short. Go figure.
Spend the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, eating at restaurants, going to knit clube, lunch with Dale and Mamie (a friend from the knitting club), then to the best steak house we've found out here for dinner. Went to the casino and spent too much money with no return. Sunday Leroy went to the kiosk at the DMV to renew his car plates, nice to not stand in a line or wait for 5 hours during business hours for something so simple. We were so close to my favorite breakfast place that we went the for the second time in 4 days for breakfast and I have the same thing everytime. The Dutch Baby pancake, with strawberries, powdered sugar and lemon. Yummy! Leroy always gets the bacon pancakes and now the waitress remembers us when we come in. We spent a little more money in the casino and decided not to play there anymore, since they don't send us incentives and the machines certainly don't pay. Breakfast it shall be, and only breakfast.
Talked to Sam Sunday, guess Morgan thinks we're coming home for the holidays and told her to get our bed made. A bit early and that decision hasn't been made yet, but I guess we better start looking into plane tickets soon, don't want to disappoint Morgan.
Back to work Monday, but not such a bad day. I was second late person, but didn't have to stay, only 1 case left. Back tomorrow at 6am and it will be a long day. Over 30 cases booked. Will be very tiring.
Think I'll eat cereal for dinner and be in bed around 8. Now doesn't life in Las Vegas sound just too exciting?
Take care all. I'll work on the picture thing. Later.

No pictures today just news of local interest. Didn't have to be to work till 8 this morning and left about 4. Tomorrow is another story, arrival 6 but off at 2:30. I like that better. Did a few scopes then went to do audits for pharmacy and anesthesia upstairs. Pretty boring.
It did rain this morning, if you want to call 10 drops a rain. Created a rainbow just off the patio that was spectacular. We could use some more rain, lots more than 10 drops. It hasn't really rained since March and, after all it is monsoon season.
The temp. was good today, only 106 and low of 94. Very tolerable.
Good thing, Kiki is still spending days on the patio after LeRoy goes to work. The voice on the alarm system makes her think someone she doesn't know is in the house, so she stays out there. Can you say GOOFY!
Anyway, mac & cheese for dinner and probably some knitting before bed, which will be around 8. Living large in Vegas baby. Later

Spending time learning

Hey, I've been spending the last 2 hours trying to get the pics from my camera to my computer. Man, you would think it was rocket science!
Anyway, my new puter doesn't have a memory card slot, guess the guys at the shop didn't think I needed one. Well, in the last few minutes I found I don't need one cause the printer has a memory slot on it. Now the pics are on and I'm going to try to post a few. Wish me luck!
I did it! This is a pic of the sunset off our patio a couple of weeks ago. Also a pic of the cactus on the from porch that bloomed a few weeks ago. There were about 12 flowers that opened up and the were just beautiful.
Not much going today. Going to grill steak, if it's not too hot on the patio. It's kinda like trying to grill in the Winter. You run out, light the grill, run back etc, etc. Anyway, it's better than shoveling the snow off the grill or chasing the wasps out in the Spring. BTW, haven't seen a wasp here since we moved and only a couple of flies. Can leave the doors open if we want.
Hope you have a good day. Later

Another hot weekend
Having had a rough week at work, I took today to go to knitting group and took Dale (my aunt) out to Carraba's for lunch. Very good. Came home early and took a little nap, then to Rampart Casino for dinner in the cafe. The waitress didn't get a tip, all she could do was complain about how busy she was, apparently too busy to provide service to us. Then off to Red Rock Casino for a bit of fun, no winning, as usual, and home by 10:30.
Man, it's an exciting life, don't you agree.
Working on getting some pictures posted, Stay tuned. Later

Joining the 21st century
Ok, now I've done it and it's all my brother's fault. He had to move to Alaska and get communicating with us in this way and now he's got me doing it too. I guess I'm going to have to adapt sometime.
Anyway, life in Vegas is much less strenuous than Alaska, it's only hot here. No bears, few bugs, and the river doesn't change depths.
I am loving living here. No shoveling snow, swatting mosquitoes and no humidity. It may be 110 but "it's a dry heat". Yeah, right, it's still hot and you must be aware of dehydration at all times. Happens before you know it cause you don't sweat.
Work is good, up and down, one day 15 cases and the next 48, as happened this week. Of course the 48 case day was my late day to work, so I had to finish things up, but wasn't too bad. Got done shortly after 5pm. Started at 6am. Still, I was exhausted. Getting to old to work that hard. And my room was all kids, 8 of them and the oldest was 5. You wouldn't believe the poor dental hygiene of kids out here. Have to put them to sleep to repair teeth. Two of them had every tooth worked on. And of the 8 kids, only 3 spoke English, the others Spanish only. Hard to communicate with a 2 year old that doesn't know you or understand what you're saying.
Enough of that.
Kiki and Marty are doing great. Kiki stays outside when we leave, cause the alarm system announces vocally when it is set, guess she thinks someone is in the house that doesn't belong there, but she can't find them, so she stays on the patio. What an idiot! Marty still has allergies and gets a shot about every 8 weeks just to keep him from itching his skin off, hasn't caused any weight loss. Still looks like an elephant standing on toothpicks.
Leroy loves his job. Working maintenance at a gated community where he started as security, but now is full time. He thinks he will be going todays, instead of noon to 8:30, soon. That will be good, since I don't see him most of the week. I'm in bed before he gets home, and gone before he gets up. On days, he will be up before me and gone just before I leave, but then evenings will be home together. Oh, no! That means I'll have to start cooking dinner. I usually just have cereal or something simple.
Ok, enough for now, I'll try to figure out how to post pictures at some point soon. Love you all, and if you come to Vegas you better let us know.
