What a great Sunday. Warm, but probably the last of the 100 degree days. Not sure if I told you that last week Kiki went to get a hair cut, well not just one, all of them :). Anyway, Marty got hurt feelings cause he couldn't go for a ride in the car and we made it up to him Sunday.

After we went for breakfast to the Draft House, great food with a Midwest menu, we came home and packed some water and the dogs and headed for Mt. Charleston. The temp was already close to 100 when we left. Not unpleasant, breezy and that helped. Anyway as we climbed from around 3000 ft. from our elevation to the nearly 8000 ft. of the Mountain, it's a 20 mile drive, the temp dropped to 75.
This is part of the view from up there, trees and streams and the snow usually stays into late April and early May. We decided to hike to the falls, which is about a mile and a half, but only made it about half way there. Leroy and I were fine, but the dogs are out of shape. They were huffing and puffing, so we let them go at their own pace, stopped and rested a couple of times, but the second time Kiki fell we decided she had had enough and turned around. Of course coming back down she was all energetic, it was downhill! When we got back to the car they got a big drink of water and a little exploration time. Marty was all nose, sniffing everything and Kiki peed and pooped at least a dozen times, I swear
. Needless to say they rested comfortably on the trip home. We took the long way back and went through Lee Canyon. What a spectacular view and change of topography. We pulled off and took some pictures of the changes from a vantage point that showed the valley below with dry lake beds and desert landscape.
We then drove down into the desert an back home.

I guess there is evidence of people walking to the log, but we certainly didn't try it. Must have been people much younger than our dogs.
There is just so much to see out here and the expanse of the landscape is overpowering. It makes one feel insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Thanks for sharing our day with us. Later
